]]> Finish your summer with a big-wheeled adventure at the Studebaker National Museum and The History Museum!

Join us on Saturday, August 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as we turn our parking lot into a Touch-A-Truck extravaganza.

Kids of all ages can get up close, climb inside, and explore a wide variety of their favorite vehicles in real-life! From fire trucks and ambulances to the Oscar-Mayer Wienermobile and service vehicles, this is your child’s chance to sit in the driver’s seat and meet the people who operate these amazing machines.

There will also be food trucks and a variety of community partners, such at The South Bend Children’s Museum, the St. Joseph County Public Library, and more!

To support our friends with sensory sensitivities, 9:30am-10:30am will be sensory-friendly, with no flashing lights or loud noises.

Admission is FREE and includes access to both Museums. We can’t wait to see you there!

]]> Take a whirlwind journey through the history of the Studebaker Proving Ground, from its origins as a critical part of Studebaker’s automotive development process to the facility’s evolution after Studebaker’s departure. Studebaker National Museum Archivist Andy Beckman will highlight some of the most fascinating moments in the Proving Ground history, including the vehicles, testing, people, and innovations that made the facility an important part of Studebaker’s story.

Following Andy’s historical look, Austin Bourdon, Engineering Manager at the International Proving Grounds, will bring the story into the present, discussing International’s ownership of the facility, upgrades and improvements made over the years, and how the Proving Grounds are used today.

Together, the presentations offer a unique look at the Proving Ground for its 100 anniversary—from Studebaker’s build up of the facility to its use as a modern engineering and testing facility.

]]> The Indy 500 bills itself today as “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” That description would’ve been just as accurate for the inaugural race on May 30, 1911, which featured 40 cars battling for a then-staggering $27,000 in prize money. Matt Anderson, Curator of Transportation at The Henry Ford will take us on the journey through photos from that landmark first running – many taken by Henry Ford, one of the 80,000 fans who saw history being made at the Brickyard that day.

Join us for a spook-tacular evening at the Museum Campus for our annual Trunk-or-Treat! On October 28, from 5:30-7:30pm, we’re transforming our galleries into a fun and festive Halloween celebration.

Costumes are encouraged but not required—come dressed in your favorite spooky attire or simply as yourself.

This free event is designed for children aged 0-13, but open to all ages! All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bring the whole family for a night of safe and delightful Halloween fun and don’t miss out on this chance to experience the Museums in a whole new way!
Please note that weapons of any kind, costume or not, are not permitted.
