This system significantly reduces energy costs and carbon emissions and now produces one quarter of the Museum&#8217;s annual energy consumption.<\/p><p>The Burkhart-Miller family has a rich history of innovation, prosperity, and community building. Solar technologies like photovoltaic (PV) cells capture this energy and turn it into electricity for homes and businesses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Over 200 PV solar panels sit on the roof of the museum.<\/strong> When the sun shines onto a panel, energy\u00a0from the sunlight is\u00a0absorbed by the PV cells in the panel. This energy creates electrical charges that move in response to an internal electrical field in the cell, causing electricity to flow.
