MATERIALS FOR TEACHERS<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Teacher\u2019s Guide and Student Workbook are available for download in the sidebar.  The Student Workbook includes pre-visit and post-visit activities to be administered by the instructor.  The Teacher’s Guide includes all of the answers and additional information about the Museum and its history.   Visits to the Museum can be scheduled by contacting the Campus Tour Coordinator, at 574-235-9474.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PUBLIC AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

These programs are available for a variety of settings including at the Museum, classrooms, informal learning environments, meetings, etc.  Please contact the Museum at 574-235-9714 to arrange for one of these programs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Driven by Design<\/em> STEM Racetrack
<\/strong>Driven to Design <\/em>is educational program that features a derby-style racetrack, track equipment, LEGO components, and supporting hardware. Students are challenged to build a LEGO race car, using Studebaker vehicles as their inspiration, and race their creations down the track. The students are then encouraged to refine or change their designs, based on their car\u2019s performance. The program utilizes open-ended prompts and suggestions to help students think through the engineering design process and learn important STEM skills.  You can find the lesson plan by clicking this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Bend Past and Present
<\/strong>(PowerPoint presentation – Educational Program)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students analyze images from 1870s to the present to compare and contrast \u201cthen and now\u201d photographs (images over different time periods). This program examines \u201ccontext\u201d within the community and helps develop visual literacy skills. Past and Present is available either as an in-classroom presentation or in conjunction with a Museum visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Trip Through the Studebaker Factory
<\/strong>(PowerPoint presentation – Educational or Public Program)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This program replicates a tour through the Studebaker Corporation\u2019s South Bend plant. In addition to changes in manufacturing materials, processes and technology, A Trip Through the Studebaker Factory<\/em> also illustrates changes in roles of women and minorities working in the plant. For educational settings, this program is available either as an in-classroom presentation or in conjunction with a Museum visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over a Century on Wheels: 150 Years of Studebaker History
<\/strong>(PowerPoint presentation – Educational or Public Program)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over a Century on Wheels<\/em> tells the Studebaker story from the family\u2019s arrival in America to the present day. This program illustrates the company\u2019s growth from a two-man blacksmith shop to the world\u2019s largest wagon manufacturer and also its transition to automobile production. The program covers Studebaker\u2019s history beyond its products, addressing the company\u2019s impact on the community and its legacy in the 21st century. For educational settings, this program is available either as an in-classroom presentation or in conjunction with a Museum visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saving America\u2019s Treasures: The History and Conservation of Studebaker\u2019s National Treasures
<\/strong>(PowerPoint presentation – Public Program)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This program presents the history and recent conservation work of the eight \u201cNational Treasures\u201d in The Studebaker National Museum\u2019s collection \u2013 Marquis de Lafayette\u2019s Barouche, President Lincoln\u2019s Barouche, President Grant\u2019s Landau, President Harrison\u2019s Brougham, President McKinley\u2019s Phaeton, and \u201cPeg,\u201d the Backward-Forward Car<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
